Governor palace or Family’s coats palace

Mondovì

Under the lower level arcades in the neighborhood of Piazza you will find the Palazzo del Governatore (The Governor’s building). Like other buildings on the square, it is characterized by porticos with pointed arches and by terracotta moldings at the entrances of the upper levels. The Governor’s building was once the seat of the Savoy royal power. From 15th century, its façade was painted with emblems and various coats of arms, in particular those from the families which governed the city. Recent renovations have restored the building from what had been lost during 18th and 19th century interventions. Five hundred years of history of the City of Mondovì are represented here.
