The image of S. Bernardo da Mentone that you can find here aims to remember the ancient Chapel dedicated to the Saint, demolished in 1967 to permit the connection between the motorway and the new route to the Shrine, opened in the same year. The 15th century frescos, the marble altar and the Romanesque foundations rediscovered during the demolition make people regret the destruction of the Chapel.
