Saint John in Vicoforte

Vicoforte

The current chapel is composed of the ruins of the complex of two side by side churches, one more ancient dedicated to Saint Maria (12th-13th centuries), the other entitled to Saint Giovanni (14th century). Titles, existence of buildings observed from excavations and many other similar examples in Piedmont can reasonably evocate the presence of the Templar (from Sancta Maria de Templo) and the Ospedalieri (Knights of Saint Giovanni).
